As part of the “Namma Green School” initiative, Shraddha-Fest Carnival a yearly gala event conducted by the school has been organized as a zero-waste event. There were green bins and blue bins to segregate the organic waste and the dry waste and trash talkers were educating the parents why there are two bins and what goes in each bin. Eco-friendly plates/cups/spoons were used to serve the food in most of the food stalls.

Thanks to the school Principal for his cooperation and support. The PTA also supported the cause by joining us and special thanks to the PTA secretary Priya Ram for making this possible. She also heads the ‘Namma School’ project for Namma Ooru.

Adithya Menon (film actor) agreed to be an Ambassador for ‘Namma Ooru’ and extended his support for this cause. He graced the occasion and shared his views on why we should start this in school and appreciated Shraddha Children’s Academy for signing up for this initiative to become an eco-friendly school.

The MBA students of SRM College signed up to volunteer for the cause and they played the role of ‘Trash Talkers’ and guided the children & parents. This is just a beginning and we are looking forward to conducting more awareness programs, activities in the school for the children and parents.
